Frequently asked
Procurement questions answered before the first call.
Answers to the questions most often raised by category managers, distributors, and procurement teams when scoping a Quebec meat program.
Is there a minimum order or weekly volume?
National Packers handles programs from a few tonnes per week up to multi-trailer national retail volumes. Smaller buyers can use mixed-load and split-case redistribution; large national programs route across the five-facility network for resilience.
Which meats do you handle?
Beef, pork, poultry, veal, and lamb, covering all major meats. Cuts run from primal and sub-primal through steaks, roasts, dices, strips, cubes, ground product, catch-weight and fixed-weight portions.
Which certifications are available through the network?
HACCP and CFIA federal inspection are baseline. Through partner facilities, programs can also be routed to SQF, BRC / BRCGS, Halal, Kosher, and Organic certified production. We confirm the certification list per facility before each program launches.
Do you support private-label and white-label programs?
Yes. Laval is built for retail-ready tray pack with film, MAP packaging, and private-label labelling. We work to your artwork, barcode, nutritional facts, and bilingual EN/FR copy requirements.
What are typical lead times?
For active programs, weekly cycles are typical. New programs usually plan in a 7–14 day window once the spec, volume, packaging, and certification are confirmed. Seasonal peaks and large promotions are forecasted with the buyer in advance.
How do refrigerated and frozen logistics work?
The network operates refrigerated and frozen storage, order picking, staging, dispatch, and cross-docking, with last-mile coordination to distribution centers and retail back doors. Brossard handles IQF and blast chilling for frozen programs.
Are labels and documentation bilingual EN/FR?
Yes. Labels, nutritional facts, allergen statements, and customer-facing documentation are produced bilingual EN/FR by default. We support Quebec banner requirements and other provincial labelling rules.
How does the quote request process work?
Send the meat category, processing, packaging, certification, and weekly volume through the guided quote tool or by email. We confirm the routing across the partner facility best suited to your spec, then return one quote and one point of contact.
